Light Lessons with Patsie McCandless: Energy and Reality - What Really Matters

Energy & Reality – What really Matters

Energy and reality – what really matters in the manifestations and perceptions of our non-physical and physical world?

Matter is a universal, physical substance. It is interesting to understand how it gets here on earth. It is Non-physical Energy that creates Physical matter in this physical world. Matter is not real. But it is what makes up our reality. Matter matters! That’s because you perceive your personal reality and choices by observing matter.

Our earth habitat overflows with physical Matter. You understand it as the physical things that you can touch and hold. Yet it is not our true, “real” world. The real world is your essential spirit, or your soul – and your connection and alignment with the Divine, the Universe, God, or Source – whatever you prefer to call it.

At one time I belonged to a Buddhist Sangha and our visiting monk touched his face, arms, legs and said, ‘This feels real. But it is not. It is our souls that are real. We are not a human body that happens to have a soul. we are each a soul, having a physical experience. This physical body is merely the vessel for our true selves: our souls.’

It seems, in our physical world that reality is something you can touch and hold. But the real world is non-physical. It cannot be touched physically. And yet,  it is the non-physical part that creates the things in your physical world.

Reality

Right now you are sitting at your computer – or have your cell phone at hand – reading this Light Lesson blog. But back up and look at the world sitting right next to you – and all around you. This ‘reality’ is what you see, smell, hear, touch and taste. It is colored by these five senses, and sifted through a sixth sense of your frame-of-mind, your mood, memories, experiences and intuition. Another human being sitting in the chair right next to you could have completely different ideas and perspectives of the very same ‘reality’ before you.

        Example:

We were sitting at a busy intersection waiting for the traffic light to turn green when a car seemingly came out of nowhere and rammed into an on-coming car – right before our eyes. Four other cars saw the accident, and we all stayed to help and give our report to the police. As it turned out, the very same ‘reality’ that we all saw had five different versions!  Each person had their own perception. So, which one was the ‘real’ story?

Your Personal Reality

Yes, reality is your personal perspective. It is individual, instinctive and impressionistic. In other words, reality is subjective.

Thus, we begin to realize that truth has many angles and facets. The way we see things can be debated, argued and disputed. Each person can argue for their own reality.

Also, once the ‘truth’ of a reality is questioned, we realize that our own perspective – and more importantly, our own choices –play a powerful and integral part in how we each perceive the physical world.

Perspective

I find it fascinating to see things in our world from a different perspective and how that impacts our choices. For example, take a mountain. It may be an enormous obstacle to a journey. But if you see it as a challenge to be climbed, it becomes an exhilarating exercise, perhaps with many diverse inventions and ideas culminating from the effort.

Or another human being might say, well, I am going to find another way – Maybe I’ll go around the mountain instead of climbing it. And they discover new lands they never knew existed.

Or other human beings say, You know, the birds fly, I think we can fly over that mountain.

Then, there are human beings who decide that they are quite comfortable right here on this side of the mountain. And they build a whole society there, with not a care to try to conquer the mountain.

Options and Choices

With this one rather simple example of a mountain, it is easy to see that our reality involves our own personal choice. We choose how we will adapt or conquer or invent.

Choice is a very powerful part of creating our own personal reality.

As I have written in previous blogs, we choose all the details in the spokes of our Circle of Life: Well-being, Love, Abundance, Creativity. People who choose consciously can puzzle out challenges and options and put their life puzzle together in the reality they envision… the reality they choose.

        For example:

Choosing sickness or health: in Love, Medicine and Miracles, Dr. Bernie Segal, the famous surgical oncologist, and ground-breaking pioneer in the field of mind-body medicine, teaches us the non-physical power of choosing self-healing through love, self-acceptance and believing in ourselves. We have the power for self-healing. Even better, we have the power to choose health – believing in our immune system, treating our bodies with good nutrition and exercise, and choosing to nurture our non-physical part of us – the real part of us that connects with the Divine.

       My own example:

I prepared for a minor overnight surgery by choosing to research holistic ways to make my experience easy-please-y, and pain-free. I read through and practiced the exercises in “Simply Successful Surgery” (Linda P Voyles RN, Jan Allegretti, et al).

Prior to surgery I shared my mantras and meditation with my surgeon and staff; and I practiced my affirmations and meditations and music before, during (with earphones) and post surgery. The doctors and nurses – and I – were amazed, for there was little to no bleeding during surgery; and post surgery I had no pain and no need for medications. I was euphoric!

Basically, I created and manifested my own happy healthy reality!

Creating and Manifesting Your Reality

As Jesse says in my book, Becoming Jesse – Celebrating the Everyday Magic of Childhood,

“Impossible” only means “I – M – possible”… “I am possible! Get it?”

Your reality is yours to create. It has no limits. Whether it is your Well-Being, Abundance, Love, or Creativity, you get to choose. You get to be happy and healthy – pain-free and wealthy! Imagine your reality. It’s yours for the making… with your…
