Your Inner Light: Light Lessons Blog with Patsie McCandless

Your Inner Light

The silent idea in your mind is a particle of your metaphysical Inner Light that can flare into the creativity for your life’s path. It is how the creative process works.

I have written in my last blog about the Metaphysical Light of creative writers – taking a non-language, non-physical, ethereal idea and manifesting it into physical writing. This non-language concept also extends into the areas of art, musicand dance. Just like superb prose, the Arts can come so very close to describing the NOW moment magnificently.

The Inner Artist

Imaginators, inventors, and creators are artists, and each artist begins with an idea. Though it is non-physical, an idea can become physically manifested… in a painting, a sculpture, music or dance. The ethereal, unspoken idea becomes art.

As Michelangelo said of his sculpture “I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free. The marble not yet carved can hold the form of every thought the greatest artist has.”

Every artist shares the Light of their magnificent, ethereal thought in the finished work, and that gives the rest of us an interpretation – a vision – of their glorious idea.

Inner Light of Creators – Imaginators

Artists, composers, musician, dancers all know this Light in the idea that glitters within them – and they know, it simply must be made manifest.

Albert Einstein had such a view of these unique creators:

“The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd,

(But) the one who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been before.”

Very often the Artist is the one who walks alone – with their Inner Light On! With that in mind, I’d like to share some of my favorite imaginators and their metaphysical thoughts about creating.

Art:

“I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream.” Vincent VanGogh

“Art is drawing a line around your thoughts.” – Gustav Klimt

“The object isn’t to make art, it is to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.” – Robert Henri

“Art is not what you see, but what the artist makes you see.” – Edgar Degas

Dance:

“No artist is ahead of his time. He IS his time.” – Martha Graham

“Why walk when you can dance?” – Ellen van Dam

“I go with the flow. Whatever music you play for me, I’ll dance.” – Gael Garcia Bernal

“You live as long as you dance.” – Rudolph Nureyev

Music:

“Music is a type of sculpture. The air in the musical performance is sculpted into something.”  – Frank Zappa

“If a composer could say what he had to say in words he would not have to try saying it in music.” – Gustav Mahler

“Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy.” – Ludwig van Beethoven

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” – Aldous Huxley

Inner Light of Silence and Music

Heaven-on-earth – found in silence – and found in music. And I add, every beautiful moment of dance, painting, and writing in the ethereal metaphysical arena of creativity. As Marcel Proust wrote:  “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but seeing with new eyes.”

These are the eyes shining with inner Light. The Inner Light of other-worldy, metaphysical experiences are real, whatever shape they find, in you and your soul.

Your Life

Your life is your blank page, a canvas, a musical instrument, a dance floor. You get to decide, as Tolkien wrote, how and where your own ‘road will lead you … on and on’. Whatever you decide to do in your physical life, allow the metaphysical Inner Light to take part in your doings as if you are writing, painting, making music, dancing… on and on!

Light On!
